The Central Valley Quilt

Hi there!

You're probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about. If I wanted to be especially evil I'd leave you all with just the title. I'm not feeling that evil today.
ANYWAY....

About the Central Valley Quilt...

As I was flying back to the East Bay I was looking at the patterns in the fields of the Central Valley. They couldn't have been more perfect if they had actually tried to make them delibrately. There were circular patterns, striped sections, parallelograms. trapezoids...you get the picture. It was really cool. It made a huge quilt. thus today's blog title. That's all I have to say.

Hope all of you are doing okay.

Lots of Love and Peace!

A Wino's Adventure

Hahaha! Dislocation!!

Soooo...I went up to Napa and Sonoma Saturday. I was only going to pick up a wine club shipment and drive around a bit. Silly me! I went to my favorite wineries in Napa and then went to Sonoma. I decided to drive a bit on Route 12 when I noticed a little bar that looked intriguing called the Blue Moon Saloon. I was tired of wine and decided to have a G & T before a little dinner and then drive home. Little did I know what really was going to happen. First of all, I think I spent all of twenty dollars the whole night. Five minutes after walking into the bar, one of the patrons bought my drink. I thought, huh, that's cool! I talked with him for a bit and then this woman walks in. She sits down next to me and starts talking just out of the blue. She buys my next drink and we talk about several different things. She happens to be the daughter of one of the owners of the Ponds Corporation. They also own a goodly portion of Sonoma. She's was at the bar to meet an old boyfriend. He comes in and we all get to talking about various subjects. They invite me to go bar hopping with them. I figured what the heck, there aren't that many bars in the area. Oh Contraire! I think we were in Glen Ellen most of the time but I really am not sure even now. She had a cottage just up the road from the Valley of the Moon winery just of Route 12 and she insisted that I stay overnight. I met several interesting people and visited some pretty small town bars. I also met "Jerry Garcia". I kid you not! This guy is the spitting image of Jerry. He was a little short and thinner, but looked just like him. Sweet man!

Now I know...you all are saying big deal, Chris..this happens all the time! Well, for me, not so much. It's been a bit since I've spent any length of time in some small town bars. I'd forgotten how friendly people can be and how much I miss that. I finally was able to buy a round...I had to fight to do it but they all finally caved in.

So to Rhonda and Mike at the Blue Moon Saloon: Thank you for restoring my faith in true humanity. I'll definitely be back!

To Catherine Dale: May you find what you're looking for...It was good to find yet another kindred spirit. Thank you for pulling me out of myself for one night. I certainly needed it.

Peace and Lots of Love!

Something Happy

There was sooo much sadness this week! Sighhhhhh

So let's move on the to the happiness!

Hooray! It's Friday!! I thought it would never get here!!

It's a drinking night. So, I cleansed my sad palate with a 2003 Three Thieves Temperanillo and then sooothed it with a 2001 Domaine Carnernos Famous Gate Pinot Noir. I feel soo much happier now. Tomorrow will be a beginning of a better time. I've been craving Pinot Noir, thanks to the book "Sideways"( Yes, the movie was good too, but the book is soooo much more entertaining!!!). So, I opened the very best that I had because I deserved and needed it. There are times when numbness is a good thing. Some may not think so, but being numb can actually speed the healing process. I'm drinking just enough to ease the pain, but not totally forget it. It helps immensely.

To better times! There are just around the corner. Huzzzaaahhhh!

Death and one of its henchmen

So this entry will be indirectly related to work.
One of our beloved young co-workers was taken away from us by bone cancer around 4:30am this morning. Thus the mention of one of Death's #1 henchmen. She had been in remission for close to six months I believe and then about a week ago, we hear she is back in the hospital with cancer eating away at her spine. This unfortunately flashed me back to my mother's own battle with cancer. So, needless to say, I've been real pensive and melancholy. Peggy, my co-worker, was in great pain for the last week. A pain that none of us can imagine and only if you have actually experienced it first hand via your own body or that of a loved one's do you really understand that the only real relief is morphine or Death. The Universe spared Peggy by taking her quickly.

Please take time to cherish loved ones...Life is really, really short...

Rest in Peace, Peggy! I thank the Universe for relieving you of the great pain!

Peace and Lots of Love!
